| The TYHA Summer Jaunt to Plymouth Sound | 03-08-2009 |
| The above jaunt began on Tuesday 14th July when 35 Members of the BMF and TYHA enjoyed dinner together at Astra’s Restaurant, on site at Mayflower Marina. Great food and company on this evening was a good start for the next day’s trip around the Plymouth Sound on 15th July. Again, meeting at Astra’s, 65 Members arrived for coffee and cake at 9.30, welcomed by Charles Bush, from Mayflower Marina. Transportation all day was enjoyed by boat, leaving Mayflower Marina after an interesting tour for MDL’s Queen Annes Battery. A further tour there conducted by Chris Price was most informative. Onward to Plymouth Yacht Haven, firstly for drinks and a superb lunch at the on site Bridge Restaurant, the buffet being so extravagant that cameras were needed prior to the enjoyment! After another informative tour at Plymouth Yacht Haven, the boat took the party to Yacht Haven Quay, a superb dry stack facility complete with a full demonstration of the procedure of lifting and launching. Please see below a few quotes and photos from the trip – a full write up will be published in the September issue of Fore and Aft magazine:- “Just to say a very big thank you for organizing a superb visit. Not only was it excellent information (so much easier to absorb when on the spot!) but also socially enjoyable too! This morning's evidence of windburn however is not good …. A somewhat sick-looking red faced panda was in the mirror - I can only hope it goes brown quickly!” “Thank you so much for all the hard work in organising such an excellent Summer Visit. We were looked after so well, once again another visit to a very high standard. It was incredibly informative, and really good to have host marina staff to take us round each marina. We all got full value out of the information given, and were very impressed with the level of investment at each marina and dry stack.” “Thank you also for such a lovely dinner on the Tuesday evening, it is always wonderful to see everybody again.” “Thank you for arranging a superb day out yesterday. I think it was my favourite of the ones I have been on and of course the weather made it perfect. I realise just how much work goes into organising a day like that.”. “Many thanks for the superb day yesterday, everyone enjoyed it; again it was very well organized, lots of really good sites, excellent food, good company and the added wonderful sunshine.” |
