Advanced Marina Management School 2009, Lignano Italy 28-02-2009
The latest Advanced Marina Management school was held on the Italian Adriatic coast at the invitation of, Dr Roberto Perocchio, President of the Associazione Italiana Porti Turistici. Thirteen delegates representing marinas from the UK, Ireland, The Netherlands, Turkey, Portugal and the UAE, participated in the demanding but rewarding course.

The first part of the course was a series of lectures, on various subjects related to running marinas, including marine law and strategic planning. Delegates prepared presentations on their marinas and shared best profit ideas. An interactive leadership and motivation session allowed delegates to investigate their management style and learn what motivates different types of people.

Roberto Perocchio introduced the delegates to the region and led the field trip to Marina Punta Faro, Marina Punta Verde and Porto Baseleghe. After visiting the sites, and having engaged with a local industry panel, delegates were given group projects, to complete and present. Oscar Siches CMM, led the group work projects, and his experience proved invaluable in both advising and translating for the delegates.

The timing of the course coincided with Carnival week in Venice, not to miss this experience an evening excursion was organised. Delegates had a further chance to get to know each other and share practices and experiences.

It was agreed by the participants that the course met all expectations, new skills were learnt, and most importantly they had the opportunity to network with other delegates and speakers, thereby gaining valuable knowledge with new contacts in the industry.

The British Marine Federation would like to thank Dr Roberto Perocchio and Paula Piovesana,Marina Punta Faro for all their time and input in making the 2009 AMM a success.
